Description	:	Clyde "Buckskin" Pickett, 86, was born in Philipsburg, on May 1, 1928, to English German parents, Barney and Bessie (Cutler) Pickett. He was raised and attended school in Philips-burg. When Buck was a very small boy, his brother Barney would set him upon his Buckskin horse and lead him around. People called him Buckskin throughout his childhood. He was awarded... Read More	Clyde "Buckskin" Pickett, 86, was born in Philipsburg, on May 1, 1928, to English German parents, Barney and Bessie (Cutler) Pickett. He was raised and attended school in Philips-burg. When Buck was a very small boy, his brother Barney would set him upon his Buckskin horse and lead him around. People called him Buckskin throughout his childhood. No one knew his given name, and as he grew older, it was shortened to "Buck," and this name stuck for the rest of his life. In 1946, Buck joined the Army and served in Japan during the occupation. He was awarded the WWII Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal, Japan. During the war, Buck's mother Bessie had four sons serve in WWII. All returned home safely. Buck married the love of his life, Helen Hammer in 1950. They had three sons together — Mike, Bill and Allen. Buck also became father to Helen's four children — Patty, Pauline, Dick and Maxine. They settled in the West Valley of Anaconda in 1950 and built the family home. Buck worked for the Anaconda Co., for nearly 30 years, 10 years in Anaconda as a laborer, and crane operator, then 20 years at the Butte Concentrator. Buck retired in 1983, when mining operations ceased. Buck was the youngest of his family and was the last to pass. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; his children, Maxine and Dick; his grandchildren, Billy Pickett Jr. and Jason Pickett; and his siblings, Brothers, Clarence L. "Barney"Pickett Joseph Pickett Ollie W. Pickett Arthur L. Pickett. and sister, Hazel Elsie Pickett Clawson Buck is survived by his children, Mike (Kary) Pickett, Bill (Dawn) Pickett, Allen (Doreen) Pickett, Patty (Bob) Nelson, and Pauline (Stan) Jones. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Donna Benson, Renee Glenney (Patty Steinbruecker), Bobbie Price, Jamie Shepard, Melissa Schott, Amy Rose, Blake Pickett, Justin and Chelsea Pickett, Alicia McDougal, and Cody Pickett, and by numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren. Buck's children and grandchildren were the loves of his life. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 24, at the Anaconda Church of Christ. Burial with military honors will follow at New Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675.
