Lutheran Church, gave the memorial address. Pfc. Marvin J. Gewecke was born at Tobias, Neb., March 31, 1923. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. In 1941 he graduated from Ohiowa high school. He was inducted into the service of his country, February 10, 1943. He was stationed at Camp McCain, Moss., and later at Fort Jackson, S. C. May 24, 1944, he left for overseas duty, serving in the infantry and artillery in France and Germany. He was first reported missing in action January 9, 1945. His parents received a corrected report May 15, that he had been killed in action January 9, 1945. He is survived by his beloved parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph F. Gewecke; a sister Melvajean; two brothers, Gaylord of Ohiowa and Wesley, S 1/C serving in the South Pacific, and his fiance Marcella Vasina of 2416 South Seventeenth Lincoln, Neb., and many other relatives and friends. His parents were notified that Marvin was buried in a United States military cemetery in western Germany and that services were conducted by Major Alvin A. Klatt, assistant division chaplain.
