Mrs. Phoebe Plaisted, wife of Samuel Plaisted of this town, passed away on February 28th at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Roy Hartwell, on Main street. Read More	Phebe was the daughter of Lyman and Sally (Taylor) Plaisted of New Hampton. Mrs. Phoebe Plaisted, wife of Samuel Plaisted of this town, passed away on February 28th at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Roy Hartwell, on Main street. She was born in New Hampton August 10, 1836, where she spent all her life until their buildings burned about twenty years ago. Mrs. Plaisted was the daughter of Lyman and Sally Taylor Plaisted. She is survived by her husband, who is the oldest man in town, four daughters, Mrs. Arcella Warner of Ashland, Mrs. Belle Bowen of Warren, Mrs. Jennie Leavitt of Portsmouth and Mrs. Carrie Hartwell of Ashland, by whom she was tenderly cared for through the last few years of her life. Funeral services were held Sunday, March 2nd, burial in Green Grove Cemetery. The beautiful floral offerings showed the esteem in which Mrs. Plaisted was held. Smith and Mr. Samuel Smith; spray white pinks, Miss Ethel Spooner; pink and white pinks, Mr. and Mrs. Theodule Bilodeau; spray callas and peas, Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Gammons; spray pinks, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Eastman; red pinks, Mr and Mrs Fred Kenney; spray pinks, Mr. and Mrs. F.S. Burleigh; spray jonquils, K.T. Class Baptist Church. Our Mother. While it pleased our Heavenly Father to remove from our midst, our Mother, her memory will linger with us always. She has stood and watched our upward climb in the sweet summer weather that brought us, Oh so many and many a time. The smile on her face is quiet, a flower is on her breast, her hands are folded together and the word on her lips is rest. The host of friends and kindred too, we have, to love each other; but on this earth God gives us Just One Dear Mother. But we know mother has fulfilled her mission on this earth, and will have a home in the land that has no sickness and partings are known no more. Resolved that in our natural sorrow for the loss of a faithful and beloved mother we find a consolation in the belief that it is well with her for whom we mourn. A number of firemen with chemicals looked after the blaze and no material damage was done. If the fire had started in the night, without doubt much more serious damage would have resulted. After having enjoyed married life for fifty years, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Plaisted, surrounded by their children and grandchildren, friends and relatives to the number of 200, observed their Golden Wedding Anniversary at the Plaisted home on West Main Street this afternoon and evening. The rooms of the house were decorated with hothouse flowers, ferns and potted plants while Mr. and Mrs. Plaisted received their friends standing under a large wedding bell. Many beautiful presents were presented the couple by their friends of whom there are many in this section. Refreshments were served. Samuel Plaisted was born in New Hampton in 1933 and in 1856 he married Miss Phebe Plaisted, also of New Hampton. They lived there for a long time and were recently burned out of their home and then moved to a home to a residence of one of them on East Main Street. Five children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Plaisted. Celia, who married Stephen Eastman and who now lives in Chicago; Belle who married Willie Bowen and who lives in Lowell; Jennie, who married John Leavitt and who lives in Portsmouth; Annie, who married Henry Morse and who low lives here and Miss Carrie who resides with her parents here. There are also five grandchildren, Thomas Eastman, Bertie Bowen, Ralph Leavitt, Stephen and Avis Morse. Mr. Plaisted made farming his trade with the exception of a few years when he was in the brick business. He made what is called the Plaisted brick and finished these with which the local Free Will Church and vestry were built as well as several other buildings here. The Plaisted home this afternoon and evening was the scene of much activity. Many out of town guests were present including James Plaisted and family; Mr. and Mrs. Irville Prescott, Meredith; Mr. and Mrs. George Plaisted, Plymouth; Dr. and Mrs. J.F. Smith, Boston; Roy Plaisted, West Lynn; F. Whitten and Mrs. Abrams. Mrs. Bracket, Lynn; Mr. and Mrs. Colby Davis, Meredith; Mrs. George Morris, Jamaica Plain and Clara Smith, Boston.
