Philip was born September 1, 1927 in Kokomo to the late Marcus and Beatrice Deardorff (Webb). His marriage to the former Emily E. Powell was in Kokomo on February 2, 1951. She preceded him in death. Deardorff 86, of Kokomo passed away at 1:34pm Saturday, October 26, 2013 at I. U. Medical Center in Indianapolis. Philip was born September 1, 1927 in Kokomo to the late Marcus and Beatrice Deardorff (Webb). His marriage to the former Emily E. Powell was in Kokomo on February 2, 1951. She preceded him in death. Philip was a WWII U.S. Navy Veteran. Philip worked at Chrysler for 30 years retiring in 1978. He was a member of the U.A.W 1302, American Legion #173 of Greentown, Golden K Kiwanis Club, was very active in Boy Scouts for over 50 years. He was a Troop Committee member for Troops 41 and 57, and an Institutional Representative for Troop 57, he was also on the executive board of the Sagamore Council, and was an O.A. Lodge advisor for over 20 years. Survivors include a son, Michael D. Deardorff, two brothers, James and David Deardorff, a sister Patricia Abersoll, and one grandson Kevin Deardorff. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Emily E. Deardorff, brother-in-law Dean Abersoll, two sisters-in-law, Jerri Deardorff and Doris Deardorff. Visitation will be from 11am – 1pm Thursday, October 31, 2013 at Ellers Mortuary Main Street Chapel, 725 South Main Street. Services will be at 1pm also at the Mortuary with Pastor Don Gifford officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery.
