Minneapolis Commercial, Ottawa County, Kansas, July 6, 1892: Phillip Scneder, Sr., has passed to his final account. He was 77 years old and was a consistent Christian, and had been for many years. Obit: Minneapolis Messenger, Ottawa County, Kansas, July 7, 1892 Uncle Phillip Scneder, of whose sickness mention before has been made in these columns, died June 30, aged 78 years. Deceased came to this country in 1873 from Rock Island, Illinois with his family, and was one of the pioneers in the settlement of this country. He leaves three children to mourn his departure, his wife and companion having preceeded him a few years across the dark river. He was a man who was just and upright in all his dealings, a good friend and neighbor, and possessed the respect and esteem of the entire community. When, during the dark days of the war he heard his country's call, he promptly offered his services discharging faithfully the duties of a soldier until honorably discharged. Rev. E. B. Tucker, his former pastor, preached the funeral sermon, and the Post and Corps took charge of the remains and performed their beautiful burial service at the cemetery.
