Description	:	Funeral services for Phillip Brooks, 62, of Brooklyn, were held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday in the Nevenhoven Funeral Home, Brooklyn. Mr. Brooks died Thursday, Sept. 19, 1885 in the Veterans Hospital, Iowa City. Rev. Lynn Williams, pastor of the Brooklyn Presbyterian Church, officiated. Interment was in Jackton Twp. Cemetery, Montezuma, with flag presentation by Francis Gallagher American Legion Post No. 294. Phillip Paul Brooks, son of Ross Brooks and Dorothy Lamb Brooks, was born Nov. 4, 1922, in Montezuma, Iowa. Mr. Brooks received his education in the Montezuma School graduating in 1940. He served with the U.S. Army from Feb. 16, 1943 to April 8, 1946. He was an abstracter for Campbell and Campbell Abstracting Co. of Newton; was a supervisor at Maytag; and operated a Standard Oil Station in Brooklyn from 1965 to 1975. Mr. Brooks was united in marriage to Ruth Johnston on April 25, 1944, in Granger, Iowa. They moved to Brooklyn in 1965 from Newton. Mr. Brooks was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Brooklyn and Francis Gallagher American Legion Post No. 294. Survivors include his wife Ruth; one brother, Melbourne of Marshalltown; three sisters, Irene, Mrs. Roy Fleming of Montezuma, Miss Jean Brooks of Montezuma, and Mrs. Marsha Sparks of Anaheim, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Vivian Wallace and one brother, Blair.
