March 10, 1962 - Carroll Daily Times - Solemn requiem high mass for Mrs. Philomena Bierl, 86, will be Celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Monday, March 12, by the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Frank H. Greteman at St. Joseph Church. Mrs. Bierl was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Church, which will be observing 40 Hours Devotion. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Peter and Paul parish, of which she was a member, will say the 8 p.m. rosary Sunday. Mrs. Bierl died about 11:10 p.m. March 8 at her home, 121 North Clark Street, Carroll, after an illness of 3 1/2 years. She was born June 5. 1875, at Ankum, Hanover, Germany, a daughter of Henry and Margaret Loxterkamp. She came to the United States in 1893, settling in the Roselle community. She had been a Carroll County resident since that time, living at her present home for 17 years. She received her schooling in Germany. Surviving are five children: Mrs. Frank (Veronica) Kemper, Templeton; Pauline Bierl, at home; Mrs. Lcuis (Irene) Bueltel and Mrs. Leo (Dorothy) Bueltel, Carroll; and Otmar Bierl, Arcadia; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren. Mrs. Bierl was preceded in death by two grandchildren; one great grandchild; her parents; two brothers, Gerhard and Wilhelm Loxterkamp, in Germany; and her other brothers and sisters: Theodore, Henry, Charles, Mary, and Elizabeth. March 14, 1962 - Carroll Daily Times - Solemn requiem high mass for Mrs. Philomena Bierl, 86, Carroll, was celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Monday, March 12, by the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Frank H. Greteman at St. Joseph Church. Officers of the mass were the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Patrick T. Lynch, the Rev. Eugene T. Schumacher and the Rev. Alfred Loeffelholz. Pallbearers were Arlo Bueltel, Paul Handlos and Earl Wittrock, Carroll; Duane Bueltel, Templeton; Edwin Irlbeck, Racine, Minn.; and Dale Bueltel, Glidden. Interment was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, under direction of the Twit Funeral Home. Mrs. Bierl, a longtime resident of Carroll County, died March 8 at her home, 121 North Clark Street.
