Spohn was born April 29, 1909 to Frank and Gertrude (Miller) Schrage in the Nebraska Community of Olean. She departed from this life October 29, 1990 at her home at age 81. She was the third of 12 children. Minnie received her education at the Olean Catholic School and spent most of her early life there. In 1932 Minnie moved to Phillips County to keep house for her brother, Frank Schrage, while he farmed. During this time she met Fred Spohn of Holyoke, and they were married on April 18, 1940 in the Olean Catholic Church. Fred and Minnie were engaged in farming in Phillips County until 1947 when they moved to Holyoke. Minnie worked for several years at the Burge Hotel and Cedar Motel. She belonged to St. Patrick's Parish and was an active member of Altar & Rosary Society for many years. Upon her retirement from outside employment, Minnie enjoyed many years at home spent doing the things she loved, including spending time outdoors with her flowers, gardening and helping others. Minnie was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Henry Schrage; and one grandchild, Tom Lutze. She is survived by her loving and caring husband of over 50 years, Fred; her children, Donna Lutze and husband Leroy of Holyoke, Bob Spohn and wife Mary Jo of Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, and Bill Spohn and wife Linda of Holyoke; seven grandchildren; brother, Frank Schrage of Holyoke; and two other brothers and seven sisters. A Vigil Service with Rosary was held October 29, 1990 at 8 p.m. Funeral services were Tuesday, October 30, 1990 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Holyoke, with Fr. Jerry Young officiating. Interment was in Holyoke Memorial park.
