The service was conducted by Rev. H.L. Holfman, of Lovingston, assisted by the Rev. C.C. Bell, pastor of the First Methodist Church, this city. Mr. Warwick was born in 1857 at Lovingston, Nelson county, and was therefore in the seventy-sixth year of his age. His preliminary education was obtained at Major Horace W. Jones’ School for Boys, this city. Later he entered the University of Virginia, where he won his Master’ degree. After his graduation, he joined the Virginia Conference, M.E. Church, South and was ordained in 1879. He also taught school at many points in Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia and Virginia; was principal of the local high school, and at one time conducted a school for girls at Waynesboro, Virginia. Mr. Warwick was twice married. His first wife was Miss Sarah Eliza Godwin, of this city, who died in 1887. Of this union, two children survive: Mrs. Lillie Slaven, wife of Paul Slaven, of Monterey, and Miss Clara G. Warwick, who has made her home in this city for several months past and is now a patient at University Hospital. In 1919 Mr. Warwick married Mrs. Phoebe D. Wilson, a daughter of the late C. Pinckney Jones, former rector of the board of visitors of the University of Virginia, She survives, with one daughter, Margret, aged eleven. Mr. Warwick also leaves two brothers and one sister: Charles and Herbert Warwick, and Mrs. Ed Swanson, of Nashville, Tenn.
