Description	:	OMAHA — Phyllis Elaine Peterson, 88, of Omaha, formerly of Fullerton, died May 19, 2016, at Methodist Hospital in Omaha following a lengthy illness. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church in Fullerton, with Pastor Linda Lambert officiating. A private family burial will follow at Fullerton Cemetery in Fullerton. Palmer-Santin Funeral Home is serving the family. Phyllis was born on Dec. 17, 1927, in Newman Grove to Walter and Ollie (Marshall) Nelson. She grew up in Boone and Nance counties and graduated from Fullerton High School in 1945. Following graduation, she worked for the federal government, primarily at the Nance County ASCS office. She retired after nearly 38 years of service. On July 12, 1959, Phyllis married Raymond L. Peterson at the First Presbyterian Church in Fullerton. They resided on their farm southwest of town until his death in 2003. The Petersons had two daughters, Dr. Janice (Dr. Harris) Frankel of Omaha and Jacque Peterson of Memphis, Tenn. Following her husband’s death, Phyllis moved to Omaha to be close to family. Over her lifetime, Phyllis enjoyed time spent with friends and family. She loved puzzles, Sudoku, the daily crossword, card games and playing Mahjong. In addition to her children, Phyllis is survived by her four loving grandchildren, Sarah Frankel of Lincoln, Emily Frankel, Hannah Frankel and Sam Frankel of Omaha; three brothers and sister-in-law, Lee Nelson of Fullerton, Dick (Marie) Nelson of Columbus, and Jim Nelson of Grand Island; and brother-in-law, Larry Baker of Omaha. Phyllis was also blessed by many wonderful nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband and her parents; one sister, Karen Baker; and two sisters-in-law, Annabelle Nelson and Emily Nelson.
