Description	:	Phyllis "Helene" Crowl, 89, daughter of Morton & Angeline (Carris) Smithson, was born July 14, 1929 in Bouton, Iowa. She passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at the Panora Specialty Care, Panora, Iowa. Helene graduated from Linden High School in 1946. On March 9, 1952, she married Clair Crowl at the Grandview Park Baptist Church, Des Moines, Iowa. To this union three children were born. They made their home in the Redfield, Perry, and Linden area. In 1978, they made their home on a farm near Linden, Iowa. She was employed at Bankers Life Company for 6 ½ years.... She passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at the Panora Specialty Care, Panora, Iowa. Helene graduated from Linden High School in 1946. On March 9, 1952, she married Clair Crowl at the Grandview Park Baptist Church, Des Moines, Iowa. To this union three children were born. They made their home in the Redfield, Perry, and Linden area. In 1978, they made their home on a farm near Linden, Iowa. She was employed at Bankers Life Company for 6 ½ years. The Panora Nursing & Rehab Center (formerly Craft Care Center) for 17 years. She continued to assist at supper, as a volunteer, and auxiliary member following her retirement. Helene was a former member of Shiloh Bible Church. She was a very active member of the Panora First Christian Church where she served as co-treasurer and was a Deacon. She was also a member of Stitch-N-Chatter. She is survived by her children, Dennis (Faith) Crowl of North Platte, NE; Julie (Bill) Norlin of Greencastle, IN; and Susan (George) Mogensen of Des Moines, IA; grandchildren, David, Rebecca, Erik, & Zachariah; great-grandchildren, Zoey & Gwyneth; and sister, Eileen Goodrich of Panora. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Clair, brothers Dale & Ted Smithson, and sister Marjorie Parlee. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M., Monday, August 6, 2018 at the Panora First Christian Church. Burial will be in West Linn Cemetery, rural Linden. Visitation will be Sunday, August 5, 2018 from 6-8 P.M. at Twigg Funeral Home, Panora. Memorials may be left to the Panora First Christian Church.
