(Bonney) Hogue, 70 Phyllis was born Sept. 24, 1944, in Kalispell to Virgil and Mildred (Rhine) Bonney. Phyllis grew up in rural Montana logging camps with her brothers and many cousins. At an early age, Phyllis moved with her family to Hamilton and then to Happy’s Inn. Phyllis attended the Little Red School House at Happy’s Inn through the eighth grade. She graduated from Libby High School with the class of 1962. Shortly after high school, Phyllis began work as a dispatcher for the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office. In the mid 1960s, she became a dispatcher for the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office. Phyllis worked for county and state offices here in Libby for the next 40-plus years, retiring in 2010. On December 18, 1965, Phyllis married Emery Hogue at the Church of God in Libby. Phyllis and Emery had three sons. She was preceded in death by her son, Dean on May 6, 1996; and her three brothers, Bob, Lee and Raymond. Phyllis passed away on Oct. 4, 2014, after a valiant battle with cancer, at the Libby Care Center surrounded by her loving husband, daughter-in-law and numerous friends. Interred with son Dean Robert Hogue. ----------------------- Phyllis R. Hogue, 70, a long time Libby resident, died Saturday, October 4, 2014, after a valiant battle with cancer, at the Libby Care Center surrounded by her loving husband, daughter-in-law and numerous friends. Phyllis was born September 24, 1944 in Kalispell, MT to Virgil & Mildred (Rhine) Bonney. Phyllis grew up in rural Montana logging camps with her brothers Robert, Raymond and many cousins. At an early age, Phyllis moved with her family to Hamilton and then to Happy’s Inn. Phyllis attended the Little Red School House at Happy’s Inn through the 8th grade. When Phyllis started high school she shared an apartment in Libby with 2 other girls during the week and would return home to Happy’s Inn on the weekend. Later on Phyllis would stay with the Brandt family during the week while she attended school. Phyllis graduated from Libby High School with the class of 1962. Shortly after high school, Phyllis began work as a dispatcher for the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office. In the mid 1960’s she would become a dispatcher for the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office. Phyllis would work for county and state offices here in Libby for the next forty plus years, retiring in 2010. She was also an entrepreneur and sold Watkins and other products for many years. On December 18, 1965 Phyllis married Emery Hogue, originally from Bismarck, at the Church of God in Libby. Phyllis and Emery had 3 sons Darryl, Daniel and Dean. Phyllis loved being a mother to her 3 boys. She was very supportive of everything they did and would follow them to all of their sporting events. Phyllis enjoyed Fjord horses and enjoyed riding Copper and Dromie, her two horses. She also liked knitting. She was a member of the same pinochle group for over 40 years. She served in many capacities as she supported the community of Libby. Phyllis had an infectious laugh that would permeate a room. She was a gracious and loving mother and friend. She was a woman of true grit, who fought her cancer valiantly, and never lost her spark for life. Her son Dean preceded her in death on May 6, 1996 as well as 3 brothers Bob, Lee and Raymond. Survivors include her loving husband Emery Hogue of Libby, MT; 2 sons Darryl Hogue (Kathy) of Morrison IL; Daniel Hogue (Sabin) of Yakima, WA; grandchildren Ryan, Anna, Noah, Allison, Cadin, Corbin, RyAnne, and Matthew; and numerous extended family members. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 10, 2014 at the Assembly of God Church, 105 Collins Ave., in Libby, MT. Arrangements are under the care of Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home & Crematory in Libby, MT.
