After her graduation from high school in Hurley, SD, Phyllis moved to Sioux Falls, SD. On March 21, 1954, Phyllis was united in marriage to Floyd B. Meyer at Lake Preston, SD. The couple made their home on the family farm in the Hartford area, where Phyllis became a homemaker and loving mother. She was 84. Phyllis Ruth (Jibben) Meyer was born January 4, 1931, in Davis, SD, to Fred and Marie (Marks) Jibben. After her graduation from high school in Hurley, SD, Phyllis moved to Sioux Falls, SD. On March 21, 1954, Phyllis was united in marriage to Floyd B. Meyer at Lake Preston, SD. The couple made their home on the family farm in the Hartford area, where Phyllis became a homemaker and loving mother. For several decades, Phyllis served as the church organist for Hartford United Methodist Church. Her personal faith and dedication to the church were important to her, as she served on many committees and women's groups throughout the years. Phyllis looked forward to the summer months when she could plant her extensive flower and vegetable gardens. In her free time, Phyllis enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting, baking as well as canning fresh vegetables. A true musician at heart, Phyllis loved sharing the gift of music with others, and spent many hours teaching piano to area school children. Blessed with a caring and loving spirit, her welcoming smile and her witty sense of humor will be forever cherished. Grateful for having shared her life are her daughter, Anita Randall, Sioux Falls, SD; sons, Gary Meyer (Cindy), Hartford, SD, Mark Meyer, Shoreview, MN; four grandchildren, Christopher Randall, Katherine Randall, Sarah Meyer, Phillip Meyer; siblings, Mavis Kuper, Marlys Johnson, Audrey Penney, Eunice Hesby, Shirley Cooper, Leland Jibben, Sharon Jibben, Palma Stombaugh, Nola Notaro, Myrna Heilman, Orlin Jibben, and Wendell Jibben. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Dawn (Goble) Meyer; parents, and siblings, Arlene Knock, Loretta Nelson, and Kenneth Jibben. Funeral Services will begin at 2:00 pm Friday, May 1, 2015, at the Hartford United Methodist Church.
