Description	:	Floyd Meyer was born October 20, 1927, on the family farm near Alexandria, SD, to Edwin and Mary (Pommer) Meyer. Following graduation from Hartford High School, Floyd assisted his parents in farming near Hartford. He was united in marriage to Phyllis Jibben on March 21, 1954, in Lake Preston, SD. Read More	Floyd Meyer was born October 20, 1927, on the family farm near Alexandria, SD, to Edwin and Mary (Pommer) Meyer. Following graduation from Hartford High School, Floyd assisted his parents in farming near Hartford. He was united in marriage to Phyllis Jibben on March 21, 1954, in Lake Preston, SD. Floyd continued to farm near Hartford until his retirement in 2006. Floyd's passions in life were his family and farming. He thoroughly enjoyed being outdoors and working with his hands. Mechanically minded, he could fix just about anything. From carpentry to welding and mending, he was also highly skilled at repairing and remodeling machinery. Doing all his own work, Floyd almost never needed to hire things done. He had a tremendous work ethic and was known for being the first one in the field for spring planting. He was a member of Hartford United Methodist Church where for years he was active on various boards. He was also active in a number of volunteer projects and enjoyed singing in the church choir. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Phyllis Meyer, Hartford, SD; sons, Gary Meyer (Cindy), Hartford, SD, Mark Meyer (Dawn), Shoreview, MN; daughter, Anita Randall, Sioux Falls, SD; four grandchildren, and his sister, LaVeta Lloyd, Richland, WA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Alvin; a sister, Marcella Johnson; and an infant brother, Virgil. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, at Hartford United Methodist Church, with burial following at Hartford Cemetery. Visitation begins at 2:00 pm, Sunday, at Miller West, 6200 W. 41st Street, Sioux Falls, SD, with the family present to greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 Sunday evening at Miller West.
