OBITUARY THE ADAMS COUNTY FREE PRESS Corning, Iowa Thursday, November 15, 1990 PHYLLIS BERGMAN Phyllis Winnifred Bergman, 88, daughter of Willam and Myrtle Pepper Goltry, was born May 5, 1902, at Fullerton, Neb., and died Nov. 9, 1990 at Saint Joseph Hospital in Omaha, Neb., after a lengthy illness. The family lived in Missouri a few years and moved back to Iowa in 1912. She graduated from Villisca High School and taught in Adams County schools. She married John Edward Bergman Dec 25, 1925, at the home of her parents near Brooks. They made their home on farms until moving to Corning in 1951. She was a member of the Corning Presbyterian Church and took an active part as long as her health permitted. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister Doris Walter; and brother Howard Pepper. Survivors include a brother-in-law Joe Walter; and sister-in-law Crissie Riegel. Services were held Nov. 12 at the Corning Prebyterian Church with the Rev. Kenneth Rummer officiating. Casket bearers were Henry Heaton, Howard Townsend, Olin Shuler, Roy Spring, Stanley Brokaw and Veldon Deahl. Interment was in the Methodist Grove Cemetery southwest of Corning. Roland Linday Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
