Description	:	Pleasant Willard Davis was born at Corydon, Harrison county, Indiana, on December twenty-second, 1856. He was united in marriage with Miss Nanna Belle Strother on August 17, 1879, at Oak Grove church in the county of his birth; and the couple eventually came to make their home in Nebraska in the fall of 1906. He was united in marriage with Miss Nanna Belle Strother on August 17, 1879, at Oak Grove church in the county of his birth; and the couple eventually came to make their home in Nebraska in the fall of 1906. For many years past, now they have been known by a growing circle of old friends and neighbors within reach of their farm home on the Fillmore and York county line northwest of Fairmont. Mrs. Davis died in February, 1934. In recent years Mr. Davis had been in very indifferent health, and especially of late with several periods of sickness, from which, however, he usually made fair recovery. He passed away quietly in his sleep on Thursday morning April eleventh, 1935, at the age of seventy-eight years, three months and nineteen days. He leaves to survive him, two children, Oscar L. Davis of Fairmont and Mrs. Blancche Stonecipher of Chappell, Nebraska; together with seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mr. and Mrs. Davis united with the Fairmont Methodist Episcopal church in 1907, during the pastorate of Rev. John Gallagher. After a brief service at the farm home on Saturday afternoon, April 13th, funeral rites were held in Fairmont Methodist church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. J. Henry Stitt. With Mrs. Ashby at the piano, Mrs. Mabel Quinlan, Mrs. Helen Little, Oliver Moul and J.C. Higgins formed a quartet with the hymns "Abide with e," "How I'm Resting" and "Rock of Ages." Many old neighbors from both counties, besides the relatives from a distance, were present. Pallbearers were Messrs. Chester Perkins, John Ellis, George Baugh, Ray Porter, E.E. Kinnett and Oscar White. A large company followed the remains to Fairmont Cemetery, where interment was made. Among the relatives and friends from a distance who were present at the services were a daughter, Mrs. Ben Stonecipher, her husband and children, Mrs. E.A. Elmquist and husband; Wilma and Garnet Stonecipher, of Chappell; a nephew, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Hickman of Denver and friends from Seward and York counties.
