Read More	Poppie Poppen Is Dead Died – At his home one mile northwest of Estelline, on Friday, May 27th, 1910, Poppie Poppen, aged 15 years, 10 months, 24 days. Again are we called upon to chronicle the death od one of the brightest boys of an honored and respected family. Again are the heart strings of a father and mother broken by the loss of a noble boy. Again are we reminded that the hand of death may visit any of us at a moments notice. His death has brought the bitter cut of sorrow to the lips of his relatives and many friends. His was the soul of honor and his friends and friendships were sacred to him. He was one of nature's noblemen in its truest sense – brave, generous and manly. It is sad at any time to stand beside the bed of the dying and watch life's ebbing tide drifting the loved one slowly perhaps, but surely into the great ocean of eternity. Gone from our sight, but because life and love is stronger than death he is still ours. He was taken with the measles and contracted a severe cold, which developed into pneumonia and a few days before his death he complained of a severe pain in the left side, which developed into a severe case of appendicitis from which he suffered until the angel of death relieved him of further worldly cares and troubles. The subject of this sketch was born in Parkersburg, Iowa, July 3, 1894, and had lived until July he would have been 16 years of age. He moved with his parents to Hamlin county in 1900, where he had lived up to the time of his death. The funeral services were held from the Congregational church, Sunday at 10:30. Rev. A. L. Curtis officiating and the remains were laid to rest in the silent city on the hill. Besides a number of other relatives he leaves a father, mother, three brothers and five sisters to mourn his taking away. To the heart broken family who sit in sorrow where his footsteps and the echo of his manly voice will never again be heard, we join with the many friends in extending to them our heartfelt sympathy. We can but remind those who were nearest and dearest to him that he is resting in heaven, patiently awaiting their coming. Behind the storm clouds always lurks the rainbow and when the storm is past it weeps upon the flowers of the land and the pearls of the sea.
