The funeral services were held at Anoka where he was well known and a one time heavy owner of Mellette county land. He is the father of H. J. Danker, Mrs. Warren Wells and Mrs. C. R. Derry. He had been in ill health for the past 15 years and was a patient sufferer. He was taken rather seriously ill about three weeks ago, and his children were with him in his last moments. Last rites were held from the Lutheran Church at Anoka and the church was filled to overflowing with friends. Out of town relatives who were in attendance at the services were Mrs. George Garner of Taintor, Iowa, mother of Mrs. Danker; Mr. & Mrs. Tom Topham of Wichita, Kansas, sister and brother-in-law of Mrs. Danker; Mrs. Rohm of Randolph; Mr. & Mrs. Fred Caster and son Randolph. Paul Ferdinand Danker was born on February 27, 1867 at Stein, Germany, and passed away at his home in Anoka on April 16, 1937, at the age of 70 years, 1 month and 19 days. When he was sixteen years of age he came to the United States, living for a time in Iowa and later moving to Coleridge, Nebraska, and then on to Boyd County, where he homesteaded near Anoka in 1892. On October 11, 1893, he was married to Perlie Taylor at Randolph, Nebr. and to this union were born five children, one son who passed away in infancy, and one son and three daughters who survive. On April 8, 1882, he was confirmed in the Presbyterian Church in Germany which at that time was the official state church of that country, and Mr. Danker still possessed the certificate of confirmation issued to him at that time by the government. Mr. Danker was active in the early pioneer days of the community, being the first postmaster of Anoka as well as one of the leading farmers and stockman of the community for many years. He was president of the Boyd County State Bank of Anoka for a number of years, but resigned because of ill health. During his sickness as well as his entire life, he was always cheerful and while at times his suffering was very acute he never complained but always put forth an effort to think of the brighter side of life. Besides his wife, and one son Harlan of Wood, three daughters, Miss Maude at home, Mrs. Myrtle Derry and Mrs. Gladys Wells of Wood he is survived by five grandchildren, and two brothers, John and Herman, both of Germany; also two nephews, Kurt of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Ernest of Wood. Another brother, Ed, the only other member of the family to come to America, passed away three years ago.
