Description	:	GERMANTON, NC ~ Mr. Preston Allie Hampton, 93, passed away Saturday morning, October 6, 2012 at Pioneer Community Hospital of Danbury. He was born November 1, 1918 to the late Stephen Charles Hampton and Nancy Jane Heath Hampton. Preston retired from Hanes Dye and Finishing Company with 28 years of service. While his health permitted, he attended Walnut Cove Primitive Baptist Church. Preston was greatly loved and will be missed by many. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers: Claude, Hillary, Hobert, Marion, Charlie, Wade and Ralph Hampton; four sisters: Maude Hampton, Martha Johnson, Anna Lawson and Gertrude Smith and Infant twins. Mr. Hampton is survived by his wife of 69 years, Nellie Mabe Hampton; one daughter: Mary Jo Knight and husband John; one granddaughter: Deborah K. Mabe and husband Ben; two great-grandchildren: Brittany Tucker and husband Drew and Patrick Mabe; three sister-in-laws: Thelma Everhart, Betty Ruth Mabe and Olene Mabe as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Monday October 8, 2012 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Burroughs Funeral Home and other times at the home of his daughter. Burroughs Funeral Home in Walnut Cove is serving the Hampton family. (Published in 'Winston-Salem Journal' from October 7 to October 8, 2012)
