She was born in Boston, the eldest daughter of Duncan Forbes Thayer and Priscilla (McHenry) Thayer, and resided in Lancaster. A graduate of the Garrison Forest School in Maryland, and Radcliffe College, she worked for the U.S. Government Special Services at Ramstein Air Base in Germany for several years. Lancaster - SOUTH LANCASTER — Priscilla Stewart Thayer, 77, of 250 Bull Hill Road, died on Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2006 at home, after a long illness. She was born in Boston, the eldest daughter of Duncan Forbes Thayer and Priscilla (McHenry) Thayer, and resided in Lancaster. A graduate of the Garrison Forest School in Maryland, and Radcliffe College, she worked for the U.S. Government Special Services at Ramstein Air Base in Germany for several years. Upon her return to Lancaster, she owned and operated a boarding stable on the Thayer premises, which was built by her grandfather, John Eliot Thayer in 1888. She bred and raised Thoroughbreds, many of whom went on to be successful show hunters. As Priscilla liked to say "They were in the ribbons." She was a life member of the First Church of Christ Unitarian, the North Country Riding & Driving Association and the Lancaster Republican Town Committee. Ms. Thayer loved to travel and did so extensively through the years. She was an avid reader, and an ardent fan of the Boston Red Sox. She is survived by three sisters, Nina and her husband Samuel Adams of Manchester, Pauline and her husband Winslow Duke, and Julie Williams, all of Pepperell; three nephews, Chuck Adams, David Sears and John Duke; five nieces, Margaret Williams, Sarah Bieber, Phoebe Adams Fournier, Mary Duke, and Julia Richardson; seven grandnephews and four grandnieces. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 16 at 2 p.m. in the First Church of Christ Unitarian, 725 Main St., Lancaster. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine, c/o Development Office, 200 Westboro Road, North Grafton, MA 01536.
