Read More	This Newspaper Article Appeared in the Stanton Weekly Picket Thursday, August 29, 1909 Fatal Accident Purle Thompson, son of William Thompson, of this place, aged 19 years, who has been recently working near Valentine, came to his death in a very sad manner Monday. It appeared he was riding a horse which fell throwing the young man under it. One of his limbs was broken and he was taken to a surgeon at Valentine, where his wound was dressed. On their way home they were overtaken by a heavy thunderstorm and it seems a stroke of lightening occurred in the neighborhood and rendered him and his companion unconscious. After a time he recovered consciousness but in a short time fell into a comatose state from which he never awakened. The remains were brought here yesterday and the burial takes place today. OBITUARY - Stanton Weekly Picket - September 2, 1909 In the death of Purle Thompson Stanton loses a young man of unusual merit. Never addicted to idleness, he was always attending strictly to his own business. He bore an excellent reputation in his native abiding place, and had a host of friends. He was the pride and hope of his parents and his untimely death leaves a dark cloud upon their lives which time alone can dispel. Purle was the first born child of Cora Ann (Kleckner)Thompson and William Edward Thompson. In addition to his parents, survivors include his siblings, Alvin, Alice, Lloyd, Hazel,and Mabel Thompson.
