Description	:	The funeral of the late Edward V. Ruzicka was held at Pishelville last Sunday afternoon, Rev. V.R. Barton officiating. One of the largest crowds ever gathered at the Pishelville cemetery congregated to pay their last respects to the boy, who had lost his life on the day armistice was signed. The American Legion of Verdel took charge of the funeral ceremonies. The Verdel band led in the music. Rev. Barton delivered a most fitting sermon. He grew to young manhood near this vicinity, following the occupation of a farmer. He was called to the colors, October 6, 1917 and sent to Camp Funston for training. From there to Camp Cody, New Mexico. After seven months, he was sent to Camp Merrrit. From this camp he departed for overseas. He was in many hard fought battles for his country. On Nov. 11, 1918, while charging across the fields of death, he gave his life for his country and civilization at the age of 24 years, 3 months and 22 days. He leaves to mourn his loss, his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ruzicka, five brothers, Otto, Henry, Gustav, Ernest and Walter and one sister, Teresie, besides a large number of friends, who knew him in his young manhood.--Niobrara Tribune ...The Verdigre Citizen 6 Oct 1921
