Thomas, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. Olin Thomas, of Morley, former residents of the Hopkinton vicinity, died April 8, of wounds suffered in action in Germany. Francis was born on a farm near Delhi, April 30, 1926. When two years old he moved with his parents to a farm south of Hopkinton, where they resided until three years ago when they moved to a farm near Martelle, going to Morley last spring. Thomas, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. Olin Thomas, of Morley, former residents of the Hopkinton vicinity, died April 8, of wounds suffered in action in Germany. Francis was born on a farm near Delhi, April 30, 1926. When two years old he moved with his parents to a farm south of Hopkinton, where they resided until three years ago when they moved to a farm near Martelle, going to Morley last spring. He was inducted into service, August 29, 1944, and received his basic training at Camp Hood, Texas. He was home on a furlough prior to being sent overseas, February 1, 1945. He has three other brothers in the service: Pfc. Ellery Thomas somewhere in Germany: Cpl. Everett Thomas, in the Philippines; Pvt. Owen Thomas, in the South Pacific. Thomas, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Olin Thomas of Morley, former residents of Hopkinton vicinity, was recently returned from overseas and funeral services were held at the Smykil-Goettsch funeral home in Anamosa, Sunday afternoon, July 25, at 2:30.
