Jackson Hyser, of Co. C, enrolled Aug. 23, 1861 in Ft. Wayne as a Private; mustered in Sep. 25, 1861 in Ft. Wayne by Maj. Carpenter at age 19. He was 5Π9 tall, dark complexion, black eyes, and black hair. Born Sep. 6, 1842 in Allen Co., IN, employed as a farmer, resident of Ft. Wayne, in Allen Co., IN. Mustered out at the end of the war Sep. 14, 1865 in Nashville, TN with rank of Private. Notes: Birth place also given as OH. Probably brother to William. Sick in Fort Wayne Dec. 28, 1861, and in Evansville Feb. 14, 1862. Received slight nose wound at Stone River. Reenlisted Jan. 1, 1864. Detailed as Provost Guard Mar. 28, 1865. Married Millie A. Jester 1868 in Huntington Co., IN. He filed Invalid Pension Application to receive Pension Certificate #464906 Dec. 17, 1875. Resident of Ft. Wayne 1880; of Roanoke 1897-1919 where he died Apr. 4, 1922. Buried in Glenwood IOOF Cemetery near Roanoke in Huntington Co., IN. Millie A. filed Widowfs Pension Application to receive Widowfs Pension Certificate #921409 Jun. 19, 1922, in IN.
