Description	:	Jordan lived on the family farm in Campbell County until moving to Baltimore and enlisting in the army three months after his 20th birthday. Jordan and his four sisters and brother were the 5th generation of Carrolls to live in Campbell County. Both Jordan and his father were given the middle name of Carter in honor of Jordan's great grandfather who died while serving the Union in the Civil War, William Carter Carroll. Jordan was survived by his wife Zelma and son and daughter; sisters Jesse Lee, Thelma, Geneva and Ruth; and brother Hubert. Funeral services... Funeral services were held at the Well Spring Methodist Church. ------------------------- The following information provided by Find A Grave contributor, Russ Pickett, #46575736: "Jordan served as a Private, Company C, 774th Tank Battalion, 83rd Infantry Division, U.S. Army, during World War II. He resided in Baltimore, Maryland prior to the war. He enlisted in the Army on December 10, 1942 at Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in construction and also as married. Jordan was "Killed In Action" in the Battle of Hürtgen Forest, Germany and was awarded the Purple Heart." http://russpickett.com/history/worldwar.htm
