The subject of the above sketch went to the hospital in France on January 1, 1919 and died on February 12 from an attack of influenza. He was thirty years of age. Mr. Pulse went through all the heavy battles in France and served his country well. He also had a brother, who fought with the American Expeditionary forces. He is survived by his parents, three brothers and one sister. Pulse Laid to Rest in Greenwood Cemetery Last Monday The remains of Private Leonard F. Pulse arrived in Creighton, Sunday afternoon from France and were laid to rest Monday afternoon in the Greenwood cemetery, the funeral being held at the Methodist church at 2:30 under the auspices of Creighton Post No. 74, American Legion, with full military honors. The body had been accompanied to Creighton by Pvt. Andy W. Bartin, being shipped from New York on November 11. The Creighton Post met the remains at the undertaking parlors and accompanied them to the church, standing at attention throughout the services. The services were opened by Post Commander Jacobs and the address given by Rev. J.A. Hutchins. Miss Laura Sweet sang a solo. Rev. DeBenham offered a prayer. Music was furnished by a selected choir. At the cemetery a volley was fired over Private Pulse's grave and was sounded as the flag draped casket was lowered in its last resting place. A large number of friends of the family were present at the funeral to pay their last respects. The business houses and city school were closed during the funeral service hour. Private Leonard F. Pulse, Reg M.G. Sn, 2nd Company, First Division, A.E.R. France, was the second child of Mr. and Mrs. G.F. Pulse and was born at DeWitt, Iowa Oct 27, 1888. He died in Hospital 26 at Neyens, France Feb. 14, 1919, his age being 30 years, 3 months and 7 days. Leonard came to Nebraska with his parents from Iowa on February 4, 1896. He moved from Nebraska to Montana in 1900. He was drafted into his country's service Sept 17, 1917 at Ekalaka, Mont., receiving his military training at Camp Lewis, Washington. On December 14, 1917 he sailed for France. On April 29, 1918 was wounded in the hip and wrist near Cartiguy?. Was in the Orleans Hospital and received a hospital discharge Aug. 20, 1918. On Jan. 31, 1919 he was placed in the sanitary squad. His death was caused from pneumonia. He was first buried at Neyens, France Feb. 14, 1919. Private Leonard Pulse was cited for gallantry in active service by his general and given certificate for same. Relatives left to mourn his death are father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. G.G. Pulse of Hitchcock, S.D and Harold and Howard of the same place and brother, Homer of Sykes, Mont. and one sister, Mrs. J.W MacDonald at Castle Rock, Mont.
