YARD.--At his residence in Tipton, Iowa, Dec. 13th, 1890. Mr. Robert Yard, aged 77 years. Deceased was born in Vernango, Co., Penn. April 1st, 1845, he was married to Miss Fannie Lamar. Six children were born to them, two of which died in infancy. In the fall of 1853, he came to Tipton with his family, in a covered wagon. Oct. 8th, 1862, he enlisted in Co. I., 37th, Iowa Inf'ty.--Graybeard Regiment; and was mustered out at the close of the war, May 4th, 1865. When about 30 years old he united with the church of God. Subsequently he became a member of the M. E. church in Tipton, which relation he sustained until his death. For a year prior to his death he had been in declining health, suffering from an attack of the grippe last winter fro which he never fully recovered. Mr. Yard was well known in Tipton and vicinity, and esteemed as an honest and upright citizen; in the church as a sincere Christian; and in his home as a kind husband and loving father. Funeral services were held at the late residence, Sunday P.M., Dec. 14th, at 2 o'clock, under the direction of Wm. Beaver Post, G.A.R. after which the remains were interred in the Masonic cemetery.
