Description	:	Quentin Hubert Gray of Springfield, Mo., formerly of Maryville, Mo., went to his eternal home on May 14, 2009 with his devoted family by his side at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield. Quentin was born May 11, 1922 to Alvin and Zeida Wray Gray in a farmhouse north of Maryville. Quentin attended rural schools in Nodaway County. Read More	Quentin Hubert Gray of Springfield, Mo., formerly of Maryville, Mo., went to his eternal home on May 14, 2009 with his devoted family by his side at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield. Quentin was born May 11, 1922 to Alvin and Zeida Wray Gray in a farmhouse north of Maryville. Quentin attended rural schools in Nodaway County. After graduating in 1940 from College High in Maryville, he attended the Aeronautic School in Kansas City, Mo. Later, he served in World War II overseas. On December 16, 1944 he married his love, Alice Louise McGinnis Gray. Together they shared 64 wonderful, loving years. As a young boy, Quentin worked in the family business and later became partner/owner of Gray's Oil and Gasoline Company, Inc. until he retired in 1986. In July 2008. Quentin and his wife, Alice moved to Springfield to be closer to their family. Maryville always remained home in his heart. He was highly respected as a businessman and well thought of as a leader in the community. Quentin served as president of Kiwanis, as well as serving as a board member for The Community Betterment and Maryville Municipal Airport, in addition, he was a member of the First United Methodist Church where he served a life-time on numerous leadership boards. Quentin was always a laughing, joking man who truly enjoyed life. He was dedicated to his family as a loyal husband, a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He enjoyed taking his family on extended trips, wintering in Arizona, weekends at the Lake of the Ozarks playing cards, fishing and boating with grandchildren. Quentin was fascinated with flying small airplanes to the point that he acquired his pilot's license and purchased an aircraft. In later years, flying gave way to playing golf with his friends which he truly enjoyed and having morning coffee with his dear friend, Bryon. Preceding him in death were his parents, Alvin and Zeida Gray and his sister, Deloris Espey. Quentin is survived by his wife, Alice Gray; two daughters; Linda Garvin and husband David, Springfield, and Gloria Akly and husband Tony, Marietta, Ga. He was blessed with four grandchildren; Heather Garvin Womack and husband Tate, Hillary Garvin, Ryan and Jonathan Akly and one great-grandson, Hayden Womack. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 18, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church, Maryville, with the Rev. Tom Sullenger officiating. Burial will be in the Miriam Cemetery, Maryville.
