Description	:	Quentin "Bud" Hoefer, 88, of North Platte passed away April 23, 2009, at Great Plains Regional Medical Center. He was born Oct. 31, 1920 to Henry and Margaret Jochum Hoefer near Elgin. In 1922, the family moved to a farm southeast of Sutherland. He attended Star School south of Hershey, graduating from high school there in 1938. He then attended the North Platte School of Business for two years before returning to the farm. Read More	Quentin "Bud" Hoefer, 88, of North Platte passed away April 23, 2009, at Great Plains Regional Medical Center. He was born Oct. 31, 1920 to Henry and Margaret Jochum Hoefer near Elgin. In 1922, the family moved to a farm southeast of Sutherland. He attended Star School south of Hershey, graduating from high school there in 1938. He then attended the North Platte School of Business for two years before returning to the farm. On June 12, 1944, he was united in marriage to Flora Rose Schrage in St. Bonaventure Church at Raeville. They made their home on the family farm. In 1965, they moved into Sutherland and continued to actively farm until 1971, then moving to North Platte in 1981. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus since 1941, and served as Grand Knight of St. Patrick's Council in 1998-99 and was a charter member of council No. 10506. He was a charter member of the Lincoln County Chapter of Retired Federal Employees and served as president in the early 1990's. Bud was a past member of the Lincoln County Fair Board and the Sutherland School Board. He worked for a number of years as a reporter and commodity inspector and was a member of the community and county committees of the Lincoln County A.S.C.S. In 1969, he became executive director of that office and retired in 1984. Bud was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. He enjoyed making crafts, traveling and gardening. He is survived by his wife, Flora of North Platte; five children, Judith (Larry) Johnson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Dolores (Jim) Ohmstede of Waterloo, Iowa, Raymond (Gachia) Hoefer of Carmel, Ind., Dennis (Kimberly) Hoefer of Columbus, and Joan (Dirac, Sr.) Twidwell of La Monte, Mo.; 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, three sister; Callista Binegar of Hershey, Betty (Jack) Thalken of North Platte, and June Kerkman of Elgin. Bud was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Gregory Hoefer, a brother Roman Hoefer, and four sisters; Erma Pueppka, Freda Tepley, Ione Dwyer, and Jean Mueller. A memorial has been established in his memory. Online condolences may be shared at www.carpentermemorial.com. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, April 28, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with the Rev. James Novakowski as celebrant. Burial will be at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens near North Platte. Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at the church. Visitation will be 1-7 p.m. Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday with the family receiving friends from 3 to 5 p.m. at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which is in charge of arrangements -
