Description	:	Quentin Louis Tiaden, 90, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at Bryan Health Center West, in Lincoln, Nebraska. The funeral service will be Saturday, May 13, 10:30 A.M. at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Patrick Sparling officiating. Interment will be in the Gruetli Cemetery, rural Monroe, Nebraska, on Saturday at 1:30 P.M. with military honors by the American Legion Hartman Post 84 Honor Guard. Quentin was born January 22, 1927, in Columbus, Nebraska, to George and Ida (Lemp) Tiaden, Sr. He attended rural country school south of Monroe and graduated from Monroe High School in 1945. He joined the U.S. Army on February 8, 1951. He received the Purple Heart while serving in Korea and was honorably discharge on November 7, 1952. On July 1, 1952, Quentin was united in marriage to Elaine Schreiber in Columbus. They farmed their entire life on the family farm between Duncan and Monroe which was home-steaded by Quentin's Grandfather. They moved to Columbus in July of 2015. Quentin was member of the Columbus American Legion and a lifelong member of the VFW. He served on the Monroe School Board and was a 4-H leader. He enjoyed working on restoring his Model A and taking care of his horse and buggy. His other activities included spending time with friends and neighbors, going to morning coffee and supporting his grandkids sporting events. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where he served on several boards.
