He was a charter member of the Jewell American... Read More	Dec. 23, 1920 - Oct. 20, 2007 Quentine Burdette Flory, 86, of Jewell died Saturday at his residence. Born Dec. 23, 1920, in Defiance County, he was the son of Charles and Mary (Mohr) Flory. On June 16, 1943, he married Mildred Louise Witte, who survives. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II from 1942 to 1946. He worked through the ranks to a technical staff sergeant as an aerial gunnery instructor and, after his discharge from the Army Air Corps, he joined the Civil Defense Corps. He was a charter member of the Jewell American Legion Post #635 and the Jewell Fire Department. Over the next 40 years, he worked as a bricklayer with numerous contractors where he supervised the construction of masonry buildings throughout the tri-state area. He took union leadership classes through The Ohio State University at Defiance College and Notre Dame University and joined the Bricklayers and Allied Craftsmen Local #1 of Defiance, where he was the financial secretary and assistant business agent for 28 years. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Okolona, where he held numerous church offices and sang in the men's choir. He is also survived by two sons, Michael and Philip, both of Defiance; a daughter, Lisa (Steve) Weihl of Bowling Green; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a son, Jonathan; two brothers, Robert and Charles; a sister, Lucille Carr; and a grandchild. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Rev. Lee Rupert officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery, with military honors accorded by Jewell American Legion Post #635. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hospice the Caring Way of Defiance or Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Snyder-Wesche Funeral Home, Napoleon, is in charge of the arrangements.
