Description	:	R. Stanley Gex was born to William B. and Mary L. Anderson Gex. He served in the Navy during World War II and graduated from Northwest Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Science degree. He married Mary Katherine Brady of Linn County, Missouri. They lived in Ypsilanti, Michigan, where he was a professor of Education at Eastern Michigan University. Stanley taught in rural schools in Hughes Township and received a Masters degree and a Doctorate from Missouri University at Columbia, Missouri. Stanley Gex, 87, Sciota, Pa., died Wednesday, April 28, 1999, at an East Stroudsburg, Pa., hospital. Mr. Gex was born in Nodaway County Jan. 29, 1912, to William and Mary Gex. He graduated from Graham High School and earned a bachelor's degree from Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville, and master's and doctoral degrees from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He taught at rural schools in Nodaway County, later at Ridgeway High School and St. Joseph Central High School. After serving in the Navy during World War II, he taught at the University of Cincinnati, then was a dean at Eastern Michigan University. He retired to Alabama, later moving to Texas, and to Scotia about six months ago. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary. Survivors include three daughters; two brothers; a sister; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A private family graveside service was held May 5 at Prairie Home Cemetery, Graham, MO."
