Description	:	W. Brooking Gex, 97, of St. Joseph, Mo., passed away on May 30, 2006, at a local health-care facility. Born Dec. 9, 1908, near Graham, Mo. Brooking attended the University of Missorui-Columbia and Northwest Missouri State Teacher's College in Maryville, Mo. On May 17, 1936, he married Dolores Mozingo at her parents' home near Maryville. Dolores and Brooking were fortunate to have been married for 70 years. She survives of the home. In 1934, Mr. Gex began his 38 year career with Swift & Co. in St. Joseph. Brooking attended the University of Missorui-Columbia and Northwest Missouri State Teacher's College in Maryville, Mo. On May 17, 1936, he married Dolores Mozingo at her parents' home near Maryville. Dolores and Brooking were fortunate to have been married for 70 years. She survives of the home. In 1934, Mr. Gex began his 38 year career with Swift & Co. in St. Joseph. His first assignment was measuring efficiency in the standards department. He then transferred to the city sales department until his retirement in 1970. During World War II, he served in the United States Navy as a lieutenant in the South Pacific. He was a member of the First Christian Church and the American Legion Post No. 11. Brooking was preceded in death by his parents, William Burris and Mary Lodema (Anderson) Gex; four brothers, Joe, Stanley, Virgil and Donald; and a sister Mary Gex Brown. Additional survivors: a sister, N. Louise Gex, Maryville; a sister-in-law, Ella Gex, Elba, N.Y.; five nieces, Jeannie Gex, Spencer, N.Y.; Karen (Gex) Asfour, Amman, Jordon; Nancy (Gex) Klifman, Crested Butte, Colo.; Mary Gex, Decatur, Ga.; and Frances Ann (Gex) Woodworth, Elba, N.Y.; three nephews, William Gex, Mount Pleasant, S.C.; Robert Gex, Bainbridge Island, Wash.; and William Gex, Sewickley, Pa.; and 14 great-nieces and nephews.
