She was a dedicated and devoted wife of the late Hunter Maxwell Mawyer who died in 1995 after 60 years of marriage. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel J. Hill and Carrie McCallum Hill; her twin daughters; sisters, Margaret and Carolyn; and her brothers, John, Hawes, Samuel and Edward. A loving and caring mother who is survived by her three sons, Kenneth Mawyer and his wife, Janice, of Waynesboro; Edward "Eddie" Mawyer and his wife, Phyllis, of Faber, and Gary Mawyer and his wife, Mary, of Waynesboro; six grandchildren, Steven Mawyer, David Mawyer, Norma Mawyer Gates, Faith Mawyer, Stephanie Mawyer Fitzgerald, and Phoebe Mawyer King; seven great- grandchildren, Andrew Mawyer, Angie Fitzgerald, Lorrie Thompson, Rachel King, Ben Mawyer, Abigail King, and Jenna King; as well as several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, September 25, 2010, at Adial Baptist Church in Faber with Pastor Michael Hevener officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m. Friday, September 24, 2010, at the funeral home. The family suggests that memorials take the form of contributions to Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Peter Jefferson Parkway, Suite 300, Charlottesville, VA 22911 or the Adial Baptist Church, 1090 Adial Road, Faber, VA 22938.
