Brown, died Sunday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Eli Wing Jr., in Providence R.I., where she had lived for the past 15 years. She was born in Nelson County Oct. 1, 1888, a daughter of the late Samuel J. and Emma Ballard Hill. Brown, died Sunday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Eli Wing Jr., in Providence R.I., where she had lived for the past 15 years. She was born in Nelson County Oct. 1, 1888, a daughter of the late Samuel J. and Emma Ballard Hill. Mrs. Brown was associated with the Department of Public Welfare in Campbell County, W.V., for 20 years. She retired in 1954. She was a member of Fifth Avenue Baptist Church in Huntington, W.Va. Besides her daughter, she is survived by two sons, Andrew H. Brown of Huntington, and Charles S. Brown of Pensacola, Fla.; another daughter, Mrs. J. P. Parrish of Tuyallut, Wash.; two step-daughters, Mrs. F. R. Petticrew and Miss Inez Brown, both of Roanoke; four sisters, Mrs. W. L. Wood of Roanoke, Mrs. J. D. Hughes of Greensboro, N.C., Mrs. John Leggett of Hagerstown, Md., and Mrs. Hunter Mawyer of Faber; three brothers, Samuel Hill and Edward Hill, both of Faber, and Hawse Hill of Arlington; 11 grandchildren, one great-grandchild. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Adial Baptist Church, with burial in the family cemetery at Adge Hill. Sheffield Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The family requests memorials take the form of contributions to Cammack Children’s Center in Huntington, W. V. (News-Virginian) ---------------------------------- Note: Wife of Charles C. Brown, married Feb. 26, 1913 Charles was born in 1871 or 1872 in Ossage City, Kansas; was a conductor on the C&O Railroad. His death occurred between the 1930 and 1940 census records. In the 1940 census, Sue was a Child Welfare worker in the County Dept. of Public Assistance in Huntington, WV. There were four children: Andrew H. (23 years old); Charles S (22 years), Emma Sue & Mary Ann (14 years old). The children were all born in West Virginia. Emma Sue married Elihu Smith Wing, Jr.,(#2056221308) and Mary Anne married John Pershall Parrish (d. 2003) #174677573.
