She was cared for in the home of her nephew, Dale R. Gardner. Miss Gardner, with her mother moved to Selma in the fall of 1898. She cared for her aged mother until her death on July 6, 1914. When an infant she was christened the day the church was dedicated in 1869. More than fifty years she was a member of the Missionary society, later the Women's society of Christian service. Funeral services were held at the church Wednesday conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Robert G. Farr. His text, chosen by Miss Gardner, was, "She hath done what she could." Her only survivors are nieces and nephews. Six of the nephews acted as pallbearers. Songs requested by Miss Gardner were given by Mrs. Paul Lambert, Mrs. Ralph Lepper, Mrs. A.J. Hayden, and Mrs. Edward Dooley. Pianist was Mrs. Joe W. Stump. Burial was in the Gardner family plot in the Mt. Moriah cemetery, three miles east of Selma. Source: Source: Van Buren Co.
