Guthery received a telegram Saturday from Clarks, Nebraska, announcing the death of his mother, which occurred there that morning at 7 o'clock. The telegram did not state anything concerning the funeral arrangements or what Mrs. Guthery was suffering before death. She had not been ill. Mrs. Rachael Guthery was the widow of the late Isaac Guthery, who died in 1887. She was past eighty years of age. At one time Marion was her home. She resided on West Church street, and was well known to almost all of the older residents of the city. She leaves a family of seven children, all grown, to mourn her demise. They are all well known here, as this city and county was their childhood home, but some years ago they moved West, and U. K. Guthery of Pearl street is the only child now living here. Mrs. Guthery will be remembered by Marionites as a lovable lady with a bright sunshiny disposition, who was admired and loved not only by the members of her family, but by all with whom she was acquainted. No one could be held in higher esteem than was she by her freinds, and the news of her death will be learned with true regret.
