EDGAR SILK: Rachel Hannah Rolston, a life-time resident of Shelburne and district, passed away suddenly at her home on Owen Sound Street, Shelburne, on Thursday, November 5th, 1953, in her fifty-ninth year. Despite having been confined to a wheel chair for the past four years she had been most cheerful and in reasonably good health. Her passing will be deeply mourned by her many relatives and friends. Rachel Hannah Rolston was born on June 27,1895, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Rolston. On February 5th, 1919, she was united in marriage to Willie Edgar Silk, who survives her with five daughters and two sons: Annie (Mrs. J. H. Teeter), of Georgetown; David. of Walkerton; Alma (Mrs. R. Morton), Shelburne; Marjorie of Vineland; and Doris, of Georgetown. Two sisters -Mrs. Henry Clarke (Ruth), Melancthon, and Mrs. Samuel Brown (Susan), Riverview, and one brother, John Rolston, of Shelburne, and five grandchildren also survive. The funeral was held on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 7th. A private service was held at her home, Owen Sound Street, at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Edwin Wattam, nephew of the deceased. A public service followed at the Gamble Funeral Home, Shelburne, at 3 p.m., conducted by Rev. H. O. Hongisto, assisted by Rev. E. Wattam. The pallbearers were Messrs. Harry Brown, Alvin Silk, Clinton Clarke, David Rolston, Chester Mandley, and Rev. Edwin Wattam. Many beautiful floral tributes attested to the high esteem in which Mrs. Silk was held.
