Description	:	LIFETIME SHELBURNE RESIDENT, EDGAR SILK DIES AT DUFFERIN OAKS: Willie Edgar Silk, a lifetime resident of Shelburne and district passed away at Dufferin Oaks, Shelburne, on April 2nd, 1974 in his 81st year. He was born November 2nd, 1893, the eldest son of William Silk and Sarah Ellen Bailey. On February 5th, 1919 he was united in marriage to Rachel Rolston who predeceased him in 1953. Read More	LIFETIME SHELBURNE RESIDENT, EDGAR SILK DIES AT DUFFERIN OAKS: Willie Edgar Silk, a lifetime resident of Shelburne and district passed away at Dufferin Oaks, Shelburne, on April 2nd, 1974 in his 81st year. He was born November 2nd, 1893, the eldest son of William Silk and Sarah Ellen Bailey. On February 5th, 1919 he was united in marriage to Rachel Rolston who predeceased him in 1953. Mr. Silk was a born framer, having learned the trade from his father. Many of his barns still stand as mute testimony to his skill. One of the more recent ones being the Madill barn at Hwys 10 and 401. He is survived by seven children, Anne (Mrs. J.H. Teeter of Georgetown), David of Mildmay, Alma (Mrs. R. Morton) Acton, Marjorie (Mrs. J. Prophet) Vineland, Douglas of Shelburne, Roma (Mrs. D. Carruthers) Shelburne, Doris (Mrs. Alex Zilio) Georgetown. Thirteen grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren also survive him along with two sisters Mrs. E.C. Mandley of Shelburne, Mrs. H.B. Church of Orangeville, and one brother, Clarence of Pickering. Funeral services were held from Gamble Funeral Home and were conducted by Mr. K.D. Hagendorf of the Jehovah Witness Ministry. Pallbearers were Alvin Silk, Harold Rolston, Gary Teeter, Art Silk, Russell Morton and Alex Zilio. Floral Tributes were carried by grandchildren, Penny, Philip and Shelley Prophet, Jim and Ann Morton, Dave and Virginia Swindlehurst, David Carruthers and Christine Zilio and a grand-nephew, Glen Silk. Friends and relatives were present from: Goderich, Mildmay, Georgetown, Shelburne, Acton, Barrie, Pickering and Ajax. Interment was in Shelburne Cemetery.
