Lavish at the family residence November 4, 1901, aged 63 years 3 months and 24 days, of Cancer. Rachel Viletta Alderman was born in Morgan county, Ohio July 29, 1838. She came with her parents to Iowa in 1849. They settled in Story county in 1850 where they lived until her marriage to Lawerance Lavish, June 19 1854, when with her husband she settled in Lavishes grove. Read More	The Altoona Herald, Altoona, IA November 7, 1901 OBlTUARY DIED—Mrs. Rachel Lavish, wife of L. Lavish at the family residence November 4, 1901, aged 63 years 3 months and 24 days, of Cancer. Rachel Viletta Alderman was born in Morgan county, Ohio July 29, 1838. She came with her parents to Iowa in 1849. They settled in Story county in 1850 where they lived until her marriage to Lawerance Lavish, June 19 1854, when with her husband she settled in Lavishes grove. To this union two sons were born both of whom died in infancy. The greater part of her married life was spent on the farm at Lavish Grove, where she was known and loved by all. Four years ago she and her husband moved to Altoona, that they might get away from the care and toil of farm life. She was converted and joined the M. E. church in 1852 and remained a faithful member and a devoted Christain until her death. She leaves a husband, two brothers, four sisters and a host of friends to mourn her loss. Funeral services were conducted by the pastor Rev. Smith; assisted by Rev. Helmick of Monroe, at the M. E. church Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock after which the remains were taken to Santiago for interment.
