Description	:	Beloved Mother. Rachel was the 6th child born to Philip & Elizabeth Zolman, (older sister Mary died as youth, Rachel's obituary stated she was the 5th child). She would have been born on or near the old Zollman Family Farm in Frederick County, Maryland as her family did not migrate to Knox County, Ohio until around 1812 as her obituary indicates. It was in Knox County where she met and married Israel Meredith in July of 1827. Her marriage record in 1827 is the oldest marriage record for a Zolman in the state of Ohio. Her brother, Basil, has the oldest marriage record for a male Zolman in Ohio. When her father led their immediate Zolman Family to Farmington, Missouri in St. Francois County in 1837, Rachel's husband, Israel, unfortunately did not survive the trip. He passed away in St. Louis while traveling from Knox County, Ohio. Rachel became a widow at the age of 28 with five children, three boys (Philip Zolman Meredith, John Corbin Meredith and William "Mandus" Meredith) and two girls (Albina Elizabeth who married John Hunter and Sarah Ann who married William R. Lett). The two quotes on Rachel's gravestone were from her daughters. Rachel Meredith's older sister, Susannah Zolman Powell, went through a similar tragedy 8 years later when she became a widow at the age of 42 with six children from ages of 1 to 17 years old in 1845. Then two years later Rachel & Susannah's final parent, their mother Elizabeth, died in '47. It is unknown how either sister supported their families but Rachel seamed to do better as she was a land owner in her own right according to county records. Side Note: Daughter Sarah is buried here in Glenda Cemetery. Daughter Albina Elizabeth died Feb. 15, 1901 and is buried with her husband John by the Masonic Lodge Cemetery in Farmington {per John Hunter's obituary}.
