Description	:	Mr. Basil Zolman of Dec. 9, 1807 to March 1, 1874, was the 3rd son of Philip & Elizabeth Zolman, grandson of Johann Adam & Susannah (nee Isenberg) Zollmann. Basil was born in Frederick County, Maryland and moved as a child to Knox County, Ohio in 1812. On November 23, 1828 he married Mary "Polly" Kirby and is listed in the Knox County Marriage Records of 1808-1875 (page 18) as the oldest Zolman marriage record for a male on file at the Knox County Courthouse, Mt. Vernon, Ohio. (Marriage record: Book B, page 65 for courthouse records).... On November 23, 1828 he married Mary "Polly" Kirby and is listed in the Knox County Marriage Records of 1808-1875 (page 18) as the oldest Zolman marriage record for a male on file at the Knox County Courthouse, Mt. Vernon, Ohio. (Marriage record: Book B, page 65 for courthouse records). Even though Basil was not listed in the index for the 1830 Ohio Census, he was counted & recorded in Berlin Township of Knox County as "Bazel Zalman" (sic) with wife and one son under the age of five. His father and uncle Jacob were recorded as "Zulman" and uncle John was recorded as "Zolman" during the same census. By 1840 Ohio Census, Basil is no longer listed/recorded in Knox County and is assumed to have moved down to St. Francois County, Missouri shortly after his parents did 1837, most likely trailing them by several months with the birth of Basil & Mary's son Jessie in January 1838 in Ohio.
