Rae Parker dies in 1980 at about 82 yrs of age. * * * RAE PARKER Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at eleven o'clock at the Kesling Funeral chapel of Mobridge for Rae Parker, 82, formerly of Timber Lake. Pastor Everett Tande of the United Parish Church at Timber Lake conducted the services, and burial was in the Timber Lake Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home. Casket bearers were Alfred Kougl, Gilbert Elder, James Meyer, Jens Grange, Dean Fett, and Albert Kougl. Music was "Savior Like a Shepard Lead Us" and "Jesus, Savior, Pilot Me", sung by Mrs. Wayne Solberg, accompanied by Mrs. Everett Tande on the organ. Rae Parker was born on December 14, 1897 at Lamont, Iowa, the son of William and Amelia Parker. He spent his early years there and in 1912 moved with his parents to a homestead three and one half miles north of Timber Lake. He lived on the family farm for several years, then worked on sheep ranches throughout the Timber Lake area, when his parents moved to Arkansas. He continued to keep working until December 1971, when he moved to the Mobridge Care Center. Here he spent the balance of his life. Rae was a member of the Timber Lake United Parish Church. Rae is survived by his sister Esther Murdock, of the Mobridge Care Center; three nieces, Margaret Murdock, Seattle, Washington, Mrs. Ned Dixon, Aberdeen, and Mrs. Harold Schuler of Pierre; and one nephew, Stuart Murdock of the Mobridge Care Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Carl. (Obit transcribed from a Timber Lake, SD newspaper published Oct. 28, 1980)
