The Parker family lives first in Buchanan Co., Iowa, then, for at least 10 years, live in Cox Creek, Clayton Co., IA. After Wm. Parker's death in 1948, Amelia moves back to South Dakota to live with her daughter, Esther Parker Murdock. Amelia Parker dies in 1956 at age 82. * * * Note: Amelia Parker, although her name is also inscribed on the tombstone of her husband in Arkansas, is buried in SD. * * * Mrs. Amelia Parker Funeral Rites Set for Thursday Afternoon Funeral services will be conducted from the Timber Lake Methodist church, Thursday afternoon, May 17, T 2:00 P.M., for Mrs. Amelia Parker, who passed away Monday afternoon, May 14, in the Mobridge hospital. The Rev. Roger Thomas will conduct the final rites. Mrs. Roger Thomas and Dean Fett will sing a duet, "Shall We Gather at The River" and the congregation will sing "Nearer My God to Thee." Mrs. Francis McMacken will preside at the organ. Internment will be made in the Timber Lake Cemetery. Pall bearers will be Wilfred and Bernard Kamps, Dr. F. M. McClellan, E. J. Scott, Earl Gibson and Alf Butler. J. D. Kesling is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Parker had been in poor health for a number of years. She was taken to the Mobridge hospital Sunday morning, and passed away at the age of 82 years. Amelia Wilhelmina Evert (sic) was born Sept 18, 1873, in Germany, and came with her parents to the United States when she was eight years old. The family settled in Independence, Ia., where her father worked for the railroad company. A number of years after her father passed away, her mother remarried and they moved to Aurora, Ia., in 1883. She was married to William H. Parker in 1892, at Independence, Ia., and they lived on a farm near Mederville, Ia., until coming to Timber Lake in the spring of 1912. They made their home in the present Milliken place until 1934 when Mr. and Mrs. Parker moved to Arkansas. Mr. Parker passed away in 1948, and Mrs. Parker returned to Timber Lake to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. Esther Murdock. Mrs. Parker was a member of the Methodist church, and at one time served as worthy matron of the order of the Eastern Star, Timber Lake chapter. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Murdock, and a son, Rae Parker, both of Timber Lake; a sister, Mrs. Herman Graves of Aurora, Ia., four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
