He was the son of the late Lennie Maudie and Estelle Bryant Fitzgerald and was preceded in death by two grandsons, Peter Gordon and Andrew Scott Fitzgerald. Mr. Fitzgerald retired in 1989 as a construction engineer with Bellwood and was a veteran of the United States Air Force. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Friday, February 9, 2007, at the Colonial Heights, Virginia, Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. The family will also receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Saturday, February 10, 2007, at the Byrum-Parr Funeral Home. A service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, February 11, 2007, at the Chapel of Byrum-Parr Funeral Home, 7661 Patrick Henry Highway, Roseland, VA 22967 with the Reverend Tim Madison officiating. Interment to follow at Beech Grove Christian Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, 3110 Greenwood Ave., Colonial Heights, VA 23834.
