Ralph, an avid golfer, was a familiar face at Three Lakes Golf Course for over 30 years. Read More	Wenatchee World - 11 Feb 2005 Longtime resident of Wenatchee, Ralph E. Cox, 86 years, died Tuesday February 8, 2005, after a courageous fight with cancer. Ralph, an avid golfer, was a familiar face at Three Lakes Golf Course for over 30 years. He had many golfing buddies over the years, and was lucky to experience achieving 3 holes-in-one over his years of golfing. Another enjoyment for Ralph was fishing. He loved to wade the streams and cast from the boulders on the Icicle River. In earler years, with young children, Ralph took the family camping. He loved the outdoors. Ralph was born to Charles L. Cox and Carrie Mae Tait in Republic, November 11, 1918. His stepfather, Dr. C.R. McKinley and his mother, Carrie, raised him in Brewster. Ralph graduated from Brewster High School and worked on the family farm until 1941, when he began service in the Army. In 1947, Ralph married Nancy Andrews of Tacoma, his wife of 41 years. Ralph and Nancy made Wenatchee their home and Ralph retired as Superintendent of Parks and Recreation of Wenatchee after working for the city 34 years. Ralph was an active member at Three Lakes Golf Club, Wenatchee BPOE, and the American Legion Post No. 10. As trumpet player with the American Legion Band, Ralph was part of many Apple Blossom Parades. He also enjoyed bowling and dancing. With young children, Ralph was active as Cub and Boy Scout Leader and Little League coach. His wife, Nancy, preceded him in death in 1989. Also preceding Ralph were his brothers, Harold Cox of Brewster and Melvin Cox of Pasco. Surviving are Ralph's sister, Blanche (McKinley) Smith of San Carlos, CA; daughter, Constance (Cox) Heidenreich of Billings, MT; sons and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey Cox of Tacoma, and David and Susan Cox of Richland; special companion of many years, Betty Storme of Wenatchee; one granddaughter; six grandsons; one great-grandson; five nephews; six nieces; and many grand nephews and nieces. As companion, friend, dad, brother, gramps, and uncle, he will be missed and remembered. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 12, 2005, at 1 p.m. at Telford's Chapel of the Valley. Gifts of remembrance may be made to Central Washington Hospital Hospice Program; 903 Red Apple Rd., Wenatchee, WA 98801. Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.
