In July of 1945 Private Ralph Culler was in Receiving Company B, and sixth Infantry Training, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. In October 1946 he was in Company B Signal Battalion, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. October 1947 Ralph and his family moved to Sykesville, Maryland. Eventually, they relocated to Westminster, Maryland. Ralph loved music especially jazz. He played the saxophone. He formed the Ralph Culler Quartet. Members were Betty Parker, Bob Stone, Herbie Sell, Dick Eckenrode, Bill Hallmark, and Bick (Ralph) Culler. They played on weekends in Westminster and Frederick, Maryland. Ralph worked for and retired from C&P Telephone Company of Maryland. Ralph and Margaret had four children. Ralph Emerson "Bick" Culler, 85 of Westminster died Saturday, March 9, 2002, at Carroll Lutheran Village. Born May 21, 1916, in Jefferson he was the son of the late Ralph E. and Grace Myer Culler. He was the husband of Margaret Lewis Culler, his wife of 54 years who died in 1993. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He had been a telecommunication manager for the C&P Telephone Co. and worked in Havre de Grace, Brunswick, Frederick, Sykesville, Westminster, Washington D.C., and Baltimore before retiring in 1975. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and served as president of the church council. He was a member and past president of Just To Again, the Kiwanis Club of Westminster, Telephone Pioneers, Westminster Chamber of Commerce, and The Friends of the Village. He was a former board member of Carroll Lutheran Village. Surviving are daughter and son-in-law Judith C. and Joseph Benik of Cockeysville, sons and daughters-in-law Dr. Ralph E. III and Sylvia Culler of Georgetown, Texas, and Jeffrey L. and Karen Culler of Ellicott City; nine grandchildren, and one great grandson. Daughter Marsha Anne Culler and siblings Anna Grace Brown, Betty Storm, and Edna, Virginia and John Culler predeceased him. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Grace Lutheran Church, Westminster. Private graveside services will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Jefferson, at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster.
