Funeral services will be held in the Solt Chapel, Friday afternoon, May 13. ------------------------------ Thanks to contributor #47466150 Grand Island (Nebraska) Independent Wednesday, 11 May 1955 CENTRAL CITY (Special Dispatch) - Ralph Smith, a resident of Central City for 50 years, died Tuesday afternoon at a hospital in Grand Island. He had been in ill health several months, and in the hospital the past seven weeks. He was 58. Born to James and Edith Smith at Fort Steele, Wyo., on Feb. 11, 1897, he moved with his family to St. Libory in 1898. The family lived in St. Libory a few years, moved to St. Paul for a year, and then moved to Central City, where Mr. Smith continued to make his home the remainder of his life. He attended Central City schools. He first worked for the M. A. Larson real estate firm at Cental City, later becoming associated with the Nordstrom cleaning establishment. He became owner of the cleaning concern upon the death of Mr. Nordstrom. He retired six years ago. He was married to Helen Nordstrom on June 24, 1923. She survives. He was a member of the American Legion, having served with the Navy in World War I, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He attended the Presbyterian Church, where he was active in Sunday School work. The parents and two sisters preceded him in death. Surviving in additon to the widow are five brothers, Fred and Harry, Alemeda, Calif.; Ray, Matinez, Calif.; Earl, Oakland; and Charles, Central City; three sisters, Miss Vera Smith, West Springfield, Mass.; Mrs. Julia Small, Central City, and Mrs. Laura Orlowski, Albuqueque, N. Mex. Funeral services will be held at 2:30p.m. Friday at the Solt chapel. Burial will be in Central City.
