Born at Barss Corner in July, 1897, he was a son of the late Jordan and Rebecca DeLong and lived in Barss Corner until his retirement. The past nine years he lived in Bridgewater. He was employed by Bowaters Mersey Paper Company for thirty-one years, most of which were spent in the Lake Rossignol area where he was first, a foreman and later superintendent of the Woodlands Department. Of a quiet and genial manner and respected by all who knew him, he leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, Ethel Hope (Arenburg); a son, Arlee of Bridgewater; a daughter, Yvonne (Mrs. Garnet Burns) of North Bay, Ontario; a grandson, Reid DeLong and a granddaughter, Sherry Burns, both of Ottawa; a sister, Mrs. Lola Bain of Wakefield, Mass.; a brother, Fred of St. Catharines, Ontario. He was predeceased by brothers, Harry, Laurie, and Maurice and by a brother, Herman, who predeceased him by only a month. He was a member of the Bridgewater Baptist Church and a member of the Sunday School and a regular attendant of both when health permitted. Funeral services were conducted from the Barss Corner Baptist Church with his pastor, Rev. Hubert Bartlett, conducting the service, asisted by the Rev.
