Clyde Voice Republican Monday February 25, 1918 Page 1 Ray Brosseau Was A Man Who Had Many Friends Ray Brosseau was born in Kankakee Illinois October 12, 1868, and died at his home in Clyde, February 18, 1918 aged 49 years 9 months and 28 days. When a boy of fifteen years he came to this county with his parents and settled on the Brosseau homestead near Aurora. He lived at home until the year 1893 when he was united in marriage to Miss Lizzie Betourney February 14. To this union four children were born; Marie Perry who lives in Concordia, Alfa, and only son who died at the age of four years and seven months, Marceline and Margaret who are at home. Mr. Brosseau was a hard worker and a good manager and had accumulated considerable property. Two years after his marriage he bought a farm 1 1-2 miles south of Concordia where they lived five years. It was while living there that the father and mother received their first hard blow when they lost the pride of their hearts, their only boy. Ten years ago, the family moved to a farm south of this place and made that their home until a year ago when they moved to this city. The last move was made so the father could lighten up on work and to give his children the advantages of Clyde’s splendid schools. Everyone knew the subject of this sketch as “Ray” and his good nature and fine qualities made him hosts of friends He was a member of the Moose lodge and a faithful member of the St. Johns Catholic Church. The funeral was held from the St. Johns Church, Wednesday at 9 o’clock and the body was taken to Concordia Catholic cemetery and laid to rest beside his little son.
